Animal Reiki
Animals, like people, can also suffer from stress-related conditions, and they have been found to respond very well to Reiki treatments.
Animals are very receptive to Reiki, as they have no preconceived ideas about the treatment.
Reiki is ideal for use with animals because it is gentle and noninvasive. It doesn't cause stress, discomfort, or pain, and yet yields powerful results. Animals respond intuitively to Reiki's power to heal emotional, behavioural, and physical illnesses and injuries. For animals who are healthy, Reiki helps to maintain their health, enhances relaxation and provides an emotional sense of peace and contentment.
Cats, Dogs and Horses in particular are very sensitive to Reiki and accept it well. Depending on the individual they can be restless at first but usually soon become calm, this is due to them sensing something different in the therapist's touch as they become aware of the sensation of the energy.
As treatment progresses, they generally become quite dozy, mouthing, yawning, licking and chewing and often stretch. When they feel they have had enough of the treatment they will move away.
